14 - June 17, 2011 in Kirkenes (Norway) took place the international scientifically-practical conference "Innovation and Safe Cooperation in the Barents / Euro-Arctic region". The conference was attended by representatives of official, academic and business circles of Russia, Norway, Finland, etc.

The conference addressed the following questions:

1. The main areas of innovation cooperation in the Barents / Euro-Arctic Region: energy efficiency and conservation, information, energy and environmental safety.
2. Information and communication technology as an engine of cooperation in the Barents / Euro-Arctic Region.

3. Information security solutions to ensure cooperation in the Barents / Euro-Arctic Region.
4. Development of the Northern Sea Route.
